How can this website help me?
For a lot of people, going to India is a scary prospect. There is the uncertainty of going to a new country, with new languages, a poor infrastructure and strange customs. In addition to that, if you are sick and going there for a medical treatment, the anxiety level can be compounded. So you should not go there without adequate research and as much knowledge as possible of what to expect.

More and more overseas patients are headed to India for procedures ranging from heart surgery to cosmetic surgery, often for one tenth the cost of what a comparable procedure would cost in the US.

The question is not when this "outsourcing" of health services will take place. This is already happening. As per a report done by reputed professional services firm Ernst & Young, "Medical Tourism" is the next big success story out of India. The medical tourism market in India is worth US$ 333 million, with about 100,000 foreign patients coming in every year.

Our for this book is that of a tool to get you started in your quest for medical treatment in India. This is not intended as a sales tool for "Medical tourism". The authors have drawn upon decades of experience of living in both India and the US in addition to working for healthcare businesses in India. The basic premise is to provide as much information as possible and to do as much research as possible for you to enable you to focus on getting the best health care possible. The ideas that we discuss and the issues that we bring up should aid you in thinking through your own decision making process.

This book will try to stay away from rating the hospitals and recommending individual hospitals for particular procedures. We will refer you to publicly available information sources and give you the guidance to make the best decision given your unique situation.
